Underachievement Identification Instruments

AIM, AIM-TO, and GAIM are available to teachers, parents, or school psychologists for use in identifying underachieving children.  All tests come in class sets of 30 or tests can be purchased individually.  The tests can be used independently or together for even more accurate results. AIM (Achievement Identification Measure) was developed to provide a measure of the characteristics that distinguish achieving students from underachievers, children who are not performing to their ability level.

It is an easy-to-administer parent report inventory that is both reliable and valid. It provides results that include an overall achiever characteristics score and five dimension scores: Competition, Responsibility, Control, Achievement Communication, and Respect.

Using AIM for identification permits diagnosis and treatment of underachievement while in early stages, thus preventing the more difficult failure experiences that are likely to follow.
